C++ was one of the earlier object-oriented programming languages. It began its life in Bell Labs (since split into Lucent Technologies and AT&T Labs) around 1978 under the name of “C With Classes”.  Bjarne Stroustroup created the language. In the 1980’s and 1990’s, it dominated the object oriented programming language landscape.
