Learning XML
A great book for beginners. Illustrations break down each part of XML syntax. A beginner can look at the illustrations and understand enough XML to get started.
Explainations are clear. Examples are usefull. The only drawback is a lack of good schema coverage. The rest of the book is so good, it is worth buying even if you have to pay list
price.

Beginning XML

This a hugh book! The size is a little intimidating if you are just getting started, but the topic coverage is exhaustive.
If you want to know about any aspect of XML, you will find a very thorough explaination, complete with examples, in this book. Strongly recommended.

XSLT by Doug Tidwell
I really like Michael Kay's XSLT book better. Still, this is quite a book. Doug Tidwell has a really cool sense of humor that makes the book very readable. He includes a major case study that covers every aspect of XSLT. There is a lot to be said for this book. It reads a little bit like a stream of consciousness novel, but the knowledge is genuine and deep.
